Classes will be at Dadu, limited to six young artists per class addressing the Element and Principles of Design through learning about Master Artists. Please rank interest level when your RSVP ( 1=favorite 4=least favorite) Each class is $25 per student
Tuesday, June 13, 2017 9:30-11am Ceramics: Texture and Color Explore the basics of ceramics with versatile air-dry clay Through using tools for texture, looking at ancient Egyptian ceramics, and mixing color your young artist will come home with a little painted bowl/vessel.
Tuesday, June 15, 2017 9:30-11am Printmaking, Shape and Line Explore the basics of printmaking (the art of making multiple) Through thinking of "multiples", our favorite animal, and Albrecht Durer, Elizabeth Catlett and come fun contemporary examples, your child will come home* with a collaborative book project. (*and by "come home" I mean the prints need to dry and you can pick up the book at your discretion)
Tuesday, July 11, 2017 9:30-11am Collage and Still Life, Shape, Color and Balance Explore the basics of collage Using Henri Matisse and Romare Bearden as a Master Artist, your artist will use many methods of making a collage (torn paper, making your own construction paper, cutting and assembling
Thursday, July 13, 2017 9:30-11am Drawing and Portraits, Line Explore the basics of drawing and facial proportions Artists will look at historic and contemporary examples of portraiture (Matisse, Alice Neel, Picasso and Kerry James Marshall) and use drawing materials to draw each other (portraits) and themselves (self-portraits). Your artist will come home with a larger scale self-portrait, perhaps with watercolor wash.
Thursdays, 7-9pm Fall 2017 Drawing (seeing) 101, for Adults Explore the basics of drawing in six weeks, for two hours per session. Artists will cover the basics of sight and perception through line, shape, value, exploring composition, form, perspective and color.
